Blog tagging eh? Right here we go…..

If everyone else is doing it I suppose I’d better jump in. So here you go, 5 things no-one needs to know about me….

1. I stuck my willy in a plug socket when I was a one year old and it blew me across the room.  I survived and have been electric in bed ever since……

Marketing Wisdom for 2007

I found a report this morning on the excellent Markting Sherpa web site.  It’s fantastic and has loads of information on leasons learned in 2006 from marketers accross the world.  It has a free downloadable 60 page PDF to read through to help you with desicions on your campaigns.

The report covers everything from email marketing to social networking and is a useful tool for PR’s, marketers and MD’s alike.  Have fun…

PR Week

This is just a quickie for anyone interested in PR.  There’s a great industry magazine called PR Week which is well worth a read.  It offers all sorts of great info about PR including information on jobs and news analysis and industry events.

Talking of events, there is an important one coming up for anyone interested in web marketing, social media optimisation and PR in general.  It’s called: PR and the Media and it’s a one day conference on 27th January 2007.

A Perfect Day…

So, everything was arranged just in time, the band were booked and the best bit? She turned up, phew! What a day, it really was the best day of my life.

It started in the pub with the lads, a big bottle of bubbly and fat cigar…..a great start to any day I’m sure you’ll agree.  Amanda looked so stunning as you can see……..

Cigar in PubAmanda

At about 11.45, we took a gentle walk through the high street to the church, suited and booted which was great fun, we had top hats and canes so a sword fight or two was inevitable..

Waiting for Amanda to arrive at the Church had to be the worst bit, I was definitely panicking, lucky me though, she turned up eventually. I still don’t think she understands yet that she definitely got the duff end of the deal! Anyway, I finally married Amanda on 15th December 2006 at 1.00pm at All Saints Church in Fleet and I am currently the happiest man alive!

After the service we headed off in a spanking new Bentley to the reception at Warbrook House, what a car! Maybe the bosses will get one for a company pool car? you never know.

Then the hour and a half of compulsory photos in the freezing cold.  We were lucky really though, the weather held out for us just long enough to get married and get the photos done – what more could you ask for in December eh?  Well chuffed.

Everyone

I did miss out on the canapés though so I was starving by the time we sat down for the meal.  Well I thought I was anyway, when it came to it I couldn’t eat most of the meal, I barely touched it in fact.  I think it was the thought of doing the speech, either that or the tight fitting waistcoat…

Anyway, great meal and the speeches went down a treat, what a relief… Amanda’s dad Chris played a blinder with his, as did the two best men (I couldn’t decide) and although the photos they circulated could’ve been better, they also could’ve been much worse….phew!

After letting dinner settle it was time for Mid-life Crisis, the band for the night.  They were soooo good and played loads of 60’s and 80’s music which kept everyone dancing the whole night, it was great, absolutely great and I want to do it all again! Maybe next year for the first anniversary eh?  Any chance of a pay rise?!?!  No?  Ah well, it was worth a go…

I don’t think I’ll detail the honeymoon but suffice it to say it was easily the best holiday of my life….thanks Amanda, love ya x

Pants Press Release?

A couple of years ago I met a journalist who had been an editor for The Telegraph whilst working in London. He told me that editors and journalists receive thousands of press releases every single day and that those releases would become a huge pile on someone’s desk.  The editor has roughly 10 seconds to decide if that press release is worth reading, so if it looks boring it’s in the bin straight away. The Survey Release

A great way to get something published is by using a survey press release.  This can be something like, 80% of people thought…… or 9 out of 10 cats said…or as, this year’s top ten ski resorts are…

PR - How did I get into it?

Nearly eight years ago now I decided I wanted a change of job and wanted to do something I would really enjoy.  I saw a job advert in the local paper for a PR Account Manager for a PR consultancy in Farnham.  I knew nothing about PR and thought I’d start to investigate it.

Love and Marriage

Some ten years ago I met the woman of my dreams.  I proposed in January this year and am now going marry to her on 15th December 2006. I am getting scared now, the wedding is two weeks today and I still don’t have my speech ready.  The cars aren’t sorted, the order of services need to be printed and I still have to buy everyone’s Christmas presents and wedding presents by then.

I also need a trip to the dentist cos I smashed my tooth while sipping beer from a pint glass and now have a chip in my front tooth.   To top it all off, my glasses broke yesterday and I have to get some new ones before the big day…..great!

Still, it doesn’t matter.  As long as I turn up I’m sure everything will work out fine eh? (Shake)……

A Big Hello!

So this is it, my first toe in the water of the blogging world and so far, the water is warm and calm. I am sitting here wondering exactly why I’ve done this and what I’m going to say but I sure it’ll come to me. So, a big hello to anyone who reads this! Anyone there? hello……
